CAN’T WORK ON LOVE

It takes pulling together for us to win

I don’t want us to pull apart again

I’m not perfect, I’ve got my dark side

We can’t work on love, if you always hide

I open up my heart and soul to you

Needing you to do the same thing too

Sometimes you hurt and don’t see I care

We can’t work on love, if you disappear

The pain that you bury, it has been showing

I’m here for you … where are you going??

Don’t you know that I’m here to stay?

We can’t work on love, if you run away

I’m sure this started when you were a child

Emotional denial is your safety style

Please tear down the wall, let me get near

We can’t work on love, if you live in fear

I feel so badly for all of your pain

Don’t point to me, I deserve no blame

Our garden of love is turning to dust

We can’t work on love, if you won’t trust

There’s joy on your face, you watch my heart bleed

I know you can’t wait for me to leave

You’ll never again, tell me to “go to Hell”

                        I’m going away …..

I can’t work on love, all by myself
